Is it normal that i get teased for my clothing?

I'm not bullied at all, but I went to the high school football game and was teased. I have listened to Eminem for years, and want to be like him. I often dress in baggy clothes and wear chains. That clothing used to make me feel confident, but a lot of kids, who I thought were my friends, were mocking me for my baggy sweatpants, tanktop, and loose fitting hoodie. This may have been because i am white, and still call myself a rapper. Now I am questioning my entire life, such as; Would girls like me more if I dressed "normal"? Or, would people talk to me if I looked like a clean and respectable person? I feel that I have to follow the crowd to be happy. You may be judging me now, if so just know that the true reason that I act like like a rapper, is because I have come from a broken home and a dis-functional family.

Okay. That last statement TOTALLY lost you any empathy you would have gotten from me. What is that?!
I never needed an excuse to dress different. I never got shit for it either. Wanna know why? I DIDN'T COPY someone else's style and whatever I donned, I did so with confidence. When you ape someone else's thing, especiaaly this long after their star has faded, and give that lame of a reason for doing it, you TOTALLY deserve to get picked on. So hitch up yer pants and dig a style that's all your own.

Yes it is normal to get teased for ANYTHING that is different from what happens to be "cool" this week. But eff 'em, having your own style shows that you are self confident.

Er mer gerddd!!! You should go on Jerry Springer lololol seriously though, I don't know about anyone else here, but I would never date a wanna be rapper. It's so... common these days, and I find it immature and stupid. I think alot of people also catch onto the "trying to hard vibe" and you seem to give it off. You would have better luck just dressing normal

THeir just jealous cause they cant pull it off. lol dress however you want to dress and as long as you feel confident thats all that matters youll get hit on more feeling confident than out of place wearing what you dont like. But seriously its just a fashion, you shouldnt be questioning your intire life on the way you dress. Just be who you are...

Well, I don't know what a disfunctional family has to do with you wanting to be a rapper. I mean, there are plenty of people who are rappers and enjoy rap music that come from happy families and broken home,as well as there are people who come from broken homes, disfuntional families, but have no interest in rap music.

But that being said, stop worrying about what people think. As long as you continue to heed the judgemental eye, you'll never be happy. Coming from my own experience, I know that, no matter what you do, people will always judge you. Why give up you because of what other people think? When I was in middle school, I was constantly worried about what other people thought of me. I was different, and becaus of that, I was bullied, so I made it my goal to be what other people wanted me to be, and do you know what happened when I finally tried to act "normal"? They still continued to bully me and judge me. When I got to the 9th grade, I realized that they were going to judge me no matter what I do, so why should I change for them? And I stopped. I gained the attitude "I don't give a damn about my reputation" and since then I've been happy. Yeah; people judge me. And they always will, but I could care less. I'm happy the way I am, and i found that I am more happy not caring about what other people think.

It's a white trash stereotype to dress that way, that's what they think. You, obviously, are not white trash.
