Is it normal that i get so frustrated with my brother?

My brother is autistic so I understand he cannot ''control'' what he does, but one of his habits is to shake and click pens. Shake meaning like bounce his leg up and down or shake it from side to side, and click pens annoyingly fast. So when he does theses things I tend to ask him to stop but sometimes I want to see how far I will allow my self control, and I only get as far as literally wanting to pull my hair apart. My arms feel funny and I get just so ANGRY. I don't understand it...and it randomly started to annoy me, I knew he did this before and just one day it drove me nuts. Sometimes my ways of coping become extreme, I have dug my nails into the carpet, couch, and tables to try to control the feeling. I don't know..Is this normal?

It is normal to be annoyed by your brother's behavior, but as you said, he cannot control it. Why are torturing yourself by testing how much of it you can stand. It is not healthy to let yourself become so upset. It could lead to hurting yourself or your brother. Leave the room when this happens. If you are charged with taking care of him and need to be in the room try wearing headphones to block the sound.

I know a lot of people who do that, and they aren't even autistic. But I understand what you're trying to say. Maybe you could walk into another room.

My brother has a mental disorder and at points he can be a bit much as well. Honestly, the best thing I have found is taking a deep breath and letting the air fill into your lungs and holding it for a few seconds. Keep on doing a few. Another thing I do is just stretch a little; just slightly moving your arms or legs into a flex for a bit. Or get up and move. The feeling will still be there but it is controllable.
