Is it normal that i get mad at my boyfriend for not needing me as much

So I'm the attentive girlfriend type that takes care and does whatever she can for him when I barely met my boyfriend he had a lot of issues like always living with his friends And family no money or job so I took care of him payed for dates got him phones to keep in contact with me and get him anything he, wanted it mad me happy to feel so needed then he moved away without telling anyone where he went I go to find him and he's in a horrible environment so I ask him to stay with me and give him money then things got better he gets a job which for some reason angered me and that is where I noticed my anger streak started he became more independent and not needing Me an doing things for me instead the other way and I'd beg him to let Me play for a couple dates or if I Could buy him something he says no its his turn to pay for things for me I never liked stuff being bought for me I liked buying the stuff for him we Been together for three years and before he got so independent I never fought with him and now it's over anything yet when he's not around I miss him like crazy other then this our relationship is perfect and pretty normal I love him with all my heart and know if I keep this up it will draw a wedge between us so please give me some insight or advice?
