Is it normal that i get bladder infections often?

Alright, hopefully some of you take this serious and help me out as much as you can. I never in my life had a bladder infection until about two months ago.. end of October. I NOW have another one.. end of December. Both times I have been to the doctor and have been prescribed the same antibiotics to take it away. My question is, why on earth am I getting them all of a sudden? I don't think it's the way I wipe my pee ..for I've been doing it the same way my whole life, I'm now 18. I think it may be because I just recently started becoming sexually active in late September. After the first time I got the infection, we've been extra careful and clean, yet I still got another one. Could it be the way I clean myself in the shower? I really like to get in there and make it clean, perhaps soap is going up where it shouldn't be? But again, I've never had that problem before UNTIL NOW. I do take a lot of bubble baths which have been known to cause them, but AGAIN, I've been taking those all my life. Someone please tell me, is this normal?!?! HELP.

I wonder if you partner is circumcised if not make sure he soap and water cleans before activity starts some men carry UTI bacteria more than others . Unless you bladder is full do not empty before sex but when you finish get up and go pee . Wiping front to back is a given and a must of course . If you can train your bladder to empty more completely it will help . Try when you get up in the morning going as soon as you get into the bathroom and then after dressing doing hair make up try and see if you can get more out. If you find that there is quite a surprising amout in the second performance try if you have had to wait a long time in the day to go and likewise do hair etc and then try again your bladder will learn to empty more completely

Thank you. My partner is circumcised. I've actually been taking some pills called "Acidophilus". I haven't had an infection ever since I've started taking these. Thank you for your help!

I did go to the doctor, and all they do is give me the same pills which make it go away. I'm just asking for ways to prevent it from happening so often.

Make sure you're using condoms or you could be getting his germs into you. If you are using condoms, change the brand in case you are allergic to latex. Ask your doctor to test you for STDs - they won't unless you ask specifically.

If I was allergic to latex.. I don't think I'd be getting bladder infections, I think I'd be reacting to it much worse, and way more often.

Having sex does make it easier for the germs to get inside your urethra. Make sure you wipe front to back. The baths could also be causing it, but you already knew that. If you want to continue taking baths a good way to try to prevent getting another bladder infection is to shower before getting in the tub and clean thoroughly. Really, that's important for all women, because it's so easy for dirty water and bacteria to go back inside the vagina and urethra. Stay hydrated with water and cranberry juice and make sure you completely empty your bladder every time you pee. I used to get UTIs all the time, but once you know the causes and symptoms it's pretty easy to take preventative measures.

Front to back after I pee??.. I've never done that growing up and I've been fine.. I'm always worried wiping like that will bring the urine up in my vagina hole. o_O

Getting pee around the outside of your vagina isn't going to hurt you. Getting the bacteria that lives around your anus in or around your vagina can cause some serious problems. Even if your anus is completely clean there can be nasty germs lurking there that you don't want anywhere near your vagina.
