Well whenever I see a film or read a book I get into them SO much and I really want what happens in some of them to happen. Also whenever I see a film I come out of the cinema and hope that something like it can happen and I really want what happens to happen in real life, if that makes sense?

Of course it's normal!:) I've always thought one of the main purposes of art is to make people think and to get an emotional response from them. You're supposed to get swept away by it. I'm curious as to what you think the purpose of a film or a book is, if you don't mind me asking? It's not something I've thought loads about, but you've made me wonder. I suppose I could get a bit cynical about it and say that a lot of people only do it to make money, but I do genuinely believe a good film or book is supposed to engage the audience/reader. Bad ones probably try to do the same as well, although I guess they're not as successful (which is probably why they're bad:P). Hmm, I don't know.
Either way, it's very normal. I look for books/films which will completely sweep me away, and thinking about my favourites now, they're the books/films that have affected me the most.
As for the second part of your post, I guess that's normal too. I don't think it's something I want often, though. Although, I have a preference for things which I consider to have a lot of truth/realism in them. Some of it I wish didn't/won't happen, though. I'm not usually keen on films/books which tell white lies or create false hopes, and I do think people end up wanting some stuff that happens in films to happen in real life. Depends on the case, but I think that can lead to disappointment. Fairly sure it's normal, though.
