Is it normal that i get annoyed when people eat too slow?

My mother eats really slow and I can eat an entire meal in 10 minutes or less. I don't consider myself a faster eater, I just don't waste time. All of my friends eat at the same pace as me.
My mom eats really slow and when I go out to eat with her it drives me crazy especially because I have to sit there and wait for her to finish. I find myself annoyingly asking her to finish while I sit there for 20 minutes waiting. It drives me crazy, it's almost like she is taunting me even though I know she isn't.

I was the slow eater in one of my previous bands. That bunch of pricks wouldn't shut the fuck up about it. I know how to enjoy my food, and I enjoy it very much, but they made me fucking feel miserable about it. You have the right to walk the hell away or don't eat with slow eaters at all. They have the right to eat however they want. You also have the right to be annoyed. And they have the right to not give a crap. Right? Right.

You should slow down and enjoy your meal. Savor every mouthful. Just like having sex.
20 to 30 minutes is normal for lunch. If you are having a multi-course meal, take an hour.
Your video game will still be there when you've finished eating.

Nothing wrong with eating slow it helps you to know when your full so you don't overeat. You could always not eat with her if its such a source of pain.

My friends are pretty slow eaters, so they make me feel like a glutton.

Yeah then they're like wait until I'm finished. I just want to get it down and get back to what I was doing. I don't believe in savoring. I taste it the same going fast. It's called fast food for a reason. But to each their own.

You seem to regard eating a meal as an unpleasant chore to be got out of the way as quickly as possible. That's not a healthy attitude to food.

Your mother may eat slowly because she has problems with her teeth or her digestion or because she rightly knows it's a healthier way to consume food ... maybe she's even prolonging the meal to get more time with you, but I can't imagine why
