Is it normal that i get along better with people younger than me?

So I've noticed in the past few years that I'm uncomfortable in front of people around my age or older. I'm 18. The latest incident was when I was at a family reunion and there were tons of toddlers running all over the place. I got excited because there was finally someone to play with. We swung on the swings and blew bubbles for hours. I played with them majority of the time and only stopped to greet my older cousins briefly so that they weren't thinking I was avoiding them.

I grew up in a family of 6 so its not like I'm childhood deprived or anything. And I DO NOT have the IQ of a rock. I've gotten those responses in the past even though I'm an A/B student and my common sense levels are pretty good...

Anyhow, I'm sure this isn't how a "normal" social life is supposed to be like. What do you guys think?

Sounds a lot like some people i know, your probably either just a little immature (nothing wrong with that), you feel intimated by people older than you, OR...you may just have different interests to the people around you your age.

its normal, children are simpler so you dont have to go through social bullshit with them, i go to a summer camp and got too old to be a camper (turned 18) its traditional for former campers to become staff, so im opting to work with little kids rather than teens for these reasons

    Kids are cool. Yes...that's normal.

  • A guy with a lower IQ than a rock can spell better than 90% of the IIN users I've encountered.

    Hilarious and true.
