You could have nasal polyps from your allergies or you could even have sleep apnea. Do you snore a lot? Do you wake yourself up after not breathing? they could do a sleep study for you to find out if there are problems where you aren't getting enough oxygen.
Try brushing your teeth at night with a non-fluoride toothpaste and rinsing your mouth. Regular toothpaste is very drying.
I don't think it's that big of a deal, you most likely just breath through your mouth which dries out your throat. I wake up with a sore throat sometimes because I was breathing through my mouth.
If you have allergies that cause you to have a stuffy nose at night you'll breath through your mouth and that will cause your mouth and throat to dry out a lot . Happens to me a lot . It helps if I take allergy med before bed . Sleeping with the window open a bit helps me too .
