Is it normal that i function perfectly fine on 3 hours of sleep?

Every night, I try to go to bed around 11 or 12, but I always get stuck doing other things like studying. I end up falling asleep around 3 and waking up at 6. I have had this routine for almost two weeks and I feel totally normal and it is actually easier to wake up.

Is it normal that I function perfectly fine on 3 hours of sleep?

Such is life. Completely normal. However I believe it will eventually catch up with you.

I don't really think it's normal. Maybe you'll feel fine now, but I can't imagine you can hang on to 3 hours sleep a day for the rest of your life. It will cause something.

There was a double blind study recently done to research the effects of sleep and most specifically sleep deprivation.

The results were astounding to say the least.

  • Your probably going into rem stage a lot faster now. Takes normal people hours, but if you go into it within an hour, you only need 2 hours sleep in that stage for your brain to do its work

You may feel fine now but sleeping for three hours a day for a long time will cause some health damage to you in the future. Try some light therapy. It sounds like your circadian rhythm is slightly off sync and could need adjustment. I also recommend having at least thirty minutes away from the computer/tv/phone/homework before sleeping. Try some relaxation and breathing exercises.

I only need five hours of sleep, an hour break, and then two more hours of sleep, before staying awake for sixteen hours for the new day and then I go to sleep for five hours and then wake up for an hour break and then sleep for two more hours and then wake up for another new day of sixteen hours and so on and so forth. lol.

You will be able to function like that for a short period of time in a row (more if you fat) but, PLEASE PLEASE dont do it because you think you can, IT WILL come back to haunt you. I have a very bad sleep disorder because of this, that probably doesn't sound bad, but it has the same effects as ADD, on your brain. (Constantly falling asleep, easily distracted, cannot focus, extreme disorganization, not caring about anything, and alot more...) please please dont make the same mistake i did.

It would be great to only need 3 hours of sleep. I can get by on 4-5 hours a night for a few days, but I typically need 6-8 hours a night to function through the day.

    Insomnia?

I do this sometimes. I'll get about 3-5 hours of sleep and be full of energy for the whole day. Also, do you drink coffee?

After a few days of sleep deprivation, I begin to ramble more than usual. Other than that I am fine. It sounds normal. Good luck on everything!

    I want to be you.
I can manage 3 hours a night for a few nights but it nails me after a few days. I'm fine with over 8 or less than 4.
