Is it normal that I fucking detest all the music my generation seems to embrace? I grew up listening to old school hardcore punk bands like black flag, cro-mags, sick of it all, and bad brains. So I flipped shit when I saw bands like blink 182 and all time low calling themselves punk. Punk isn't cute n poppy. It's angry, it's pissed off, it's offensive, it has a message of rebellion, and it annoys the fuck out of me when these fucking formulative bands sell out arenas and have the nerve to call themselves "punk". If you want real punk music, look in the basements of rutty bars and inner city kids. Punk isn't dead, it's just hiding.

    The very first punk band, the Ramones, were never really hardcore/political. They sang about simple stuff like teenage love, high school and rock'n'roll radio, and they're still considered one of the greatest rock bands ever.
