Is it normal that i find new movies terrible compared to old movies?
I had the pleasure of seing "The Good, the bad and the ugly" which straight away was followed by "Conan:The Barbarian" (1982 version).
Both movies were entertaining beyond any doubt and eventhough I had seen both of them before, I ended up with goosebumbs at certain key scenes (just remember when Tuco stumbles unto the graveyard, arriving at the goal of his odyssee and the music rises to a rewarding dramatic accustic). Unfortunately I soon got put back into my place when the big hammer fell down on my head... "Prince of Persia" poked its horrible head on the screen.
This got me wondering:"Why is it that modern day movies are so terrible?"
Is it normal that I am feeling that way?
Don't get me wrong, back on the old days there were still horrible movies. Just remember all those Steven Seagal flics.
Yet it seems, those movies, that should not even be worth mentioning, were the once that inspired the movies made these days.
Again, don't get me wrong, we still have good movies made these days, but the scale is clearly tipped towards the bad end of things.
Here is a list of what movies used to be like and the painful counterparts made today:
Casablanca - Just Go With It
Dr.Strangelove - Harold and Kumar (replaceable by any shitty Teen/Potthead comedy)
The Godfather - no POSSIBLE comparison
Star Wars (4-6) - Star Wars (1-3)
Nosferatu - Twillight
The list goes on.
Is it normal that I find modern day movies terrible?
The strange thing is: I was born in the late eighties ... the late late eighties!
