Is it normal that i find it hard to swallow sometimes?

Okay, so I'm the slowest eater ever and everyone thinks it's just because I naturally eat slow. But it's because I actually think I kinda forget how to swallow sometimes, and I always feel like I'm going to choke or I am choking, even though I'm not. I don't know if anyone has ever noticed my look of panic when this happens, or my extremely wide eyes when this happen. Like what the heck tho?! WHY do I not swallow foooood properly?!

The mind is a devious thing and anything can become difficult when you think to much about it.

Yeah, I'm thinking it might just be some weird thought thing haha, maybe I'm thinking too much really.. cause sometimes there's no problem.

When I get reminded of it, like just now, then I have trouble with it.

I just had this problem! It lasted about half a year and i lost way too much weight. I was exactly how you described. I still don't know the cause, but I mostly easy like a normal person now. Most likely my problem was caused by the stress of transferring to university and the fears associated with that because it began the summer before i transferred. Recently I went to the doctor and explained to them everything I was worried about. All they did was tell me a few tips on how to deal with anxiety and refer me to a gastroenterologist. No prescriptions and i haven't even gone to the gastro doc, but somehow i have regained my ability to eat over thesr past few Weeks (such a great feeling!). Maybe I just needed reassurance...i don't know. I hope the best for you though.

How long have you had this problem and have you lost any weight?

It's either food getting caught in your esophagus or the first signs of a neurlogical problem.

Swallowing smaller better chewed bites with more to drink is an obvious answer.

They're not the only two possibilities :/

Like it`s not a HUGE thing really, and sometimes it doesnt happen.. and I highly doubt I have a neurological problem lol. But yeah, I definitely try to eat smaller bites!

It could be a psychological problem, a sort of phobic response to swallowing.
