Is it normal that i find+count how many words i can find in a word?

This started with me a while back, so when I see a word, whether long or short, I would always see how many smaller words I can find inside this single word...say the word is "Hallucination", I would decode this word into as much smaller whole bodied or single bodied words as I can, such as:

1.hall
2.all
3.a
4.i
5.nation
6.at
7.ion
8.on

Is this normal?
