Is it normal that i feel weird calling myself a fan?

A while ago, I discovered The Shadling, an artist on Newgrounds. I love his art and as something of an artist myself, I found myself sort of influenced, mostly in that I started drawing more hentai and trying to create my own style. I don't want to call myself a fan, though, because I feel like a weirdo. I know a lot of people who are obsessed with their idols and I worry about becoming like that. Does anyone else feel like this?

    I think there are different levels of a fan. And I also think it depends who you are a fan of. A fan of a band may be more obssessive compared to a fan of an artist.

    It can be terrifying meeting a hardcore fan of something; I can also understand why you would want to stray away from becoming that way.

    Fan doesn't need to have a negative conotation (sp?). Yeah, I understand your concern though.

    You will need a fan around me because I will literally sulfur cloud you, and you'll beg for mercy and oxygen.
