Is it normal that i feel society forces this on us...?

Well, I feel as if society forces people to become sexually active and permiscuous. Does anyone else feel this way? I feel like this because of advertisements of women dressed as sluts or with almost no clothes on, commercials with whorish-looking women seducing a man(example:alcohol commercials) and because of all the porn advertisements on the Internet. I feel trapped and as if society traps everyone into sex and I don't know it's weird.... My friend's little sister walked into the room when we were on the Internet and saw a porn related advertisement on the side (my friend doesn't have Adblock plus on her computer) and her little sister was like "wow, what's that? Why is she not wearing normal clothes?" (woah) I feel as if this negatively influences little kids too. Also, that same friend's little sister said she wants to look like a Victoria's secret model! Lol I love Victoria's secret but seriously.....

  • Put simply, it's great that you noticed this. The system is doing everything they can to degenerate us; brainwashing children to become whores is one method out of many.

Yep and it gets me mad and makes a lot of people around me and a lot of young kids uncomfortable.... Sometimes makes me uncomfortable to be honest! And I am a very sexual person... But I don't need to see it everywhere I go- also I am straight, so seeing half naked girls everywhere gets fucking old. But yeah overall we are brainwashed

hm. I'm promiscuous by choice, but looking at kids these days, i'd have to agree. -_-
Sex sells, and it shows. Why, for gods sake, a 14-year old tries to chat up someone more than twice her age and tries to get him into her pants is beyond me, but it's not an uncommon sight.
I suppose the easy access to sexual stuff is triggering another revolution, albeit a silent one. Not much we can do, after all, nature didn't see fit to adapt our time-to-fertility and hormon-induced hornyness to go with our laws.
In a perverse sense or irony, it's harking back to ye olde times, and children are more bound to be sexually active at a younger age again.
I can't say i specifically approve of that, but i'll try and be open-minded about it and see where it goes. Maybe nature is not all wrong, after all, and earlier and more wholesome exposure to the realities of sexuality will lead to less completely weird/crazy adults.

Yeah I see... I just don't know why it needs to be like everywhere! I know sex sells... But jeez, it's like you can't get away from it yourself let alone get very young children away from it. I did a college research paper on this topic and surprisingly it doesn't only influence children

well, it's not so unlike violence in that matter. We are so used, through diverse media, to violent crimes, people shot, guns, fights, etc... that it's more less a "casual" aspect of everyday life meanwhile.

There's a few things that need questioning as to what are the long-term effects on our society as whole as far as permanent exposure to them goes. *shrug* but ya, as said, i agree. :)

oh, and, without meaning that critical:
I just checked your profile picture...
I don't know if subconsciously or by choice, but you took a picture with your face towards the top border, but including your chest area and taken slightly from above. Not really showing something off, but just mentioned that the fact the pic's not focused on your face(or that you choose this picture) may also already be tributed to the influence of sexuality.

I'd think your face alone with proper light and the proper angle(close to 90°) would make a more beautiful pic ^_^(or, if you want to show off that supposedly nice figure(at least looks like it on the pic), one taken from a little further away so you're not almost cut-off :) )...but then who am i to talk, refusing to have one at all ^-^

The only reason I like that picture is because of my face I didn't even notice or try to show off anything else. U can't see my cleavage or anything lol. I like the flow of my hair in the picture too and how long it looks, and I'm smiling, not trying to be sexual .... But thank you anyways :)

I agree. The world isn't made for people who aren't ready for sex.

I'd agree to an extent but I'd blame it on the media more than society. Although it's society too. We place such a huge importance on what age someone lost their virginity and I don't understand. It's just a physical act. It doesn't define you or make you an adult.

But because we have this attitude to sex, it is obvious that advertisers are going to exploit it.

I agree. I feel like a lot of people have sex early because they feel like they have to rather than because they want to and are ready for it.

Exactly and I think this is because of all the advertising based on sex and from all the television shows and movies too!

Yeah, I guess. Maybe when people see someone else doing something, they feel a pressure to join in. So if a person's friend is having sex, they feel like they're missing out or like they should be having sex too.

Yeah that's true also. But I'm saying the media influences in the first place

  • Guys, leave porn out of this. I completely agree with the OP -yeah, I have the same feeling that everything revolves around sex these days and it pisses me off.

BUT -the real porn industry has been there for almost a century already, it works in a complete different way, it's not on your tv screens and not in your malls or papers (unless you're watching ir reading porn, lol). So my point is -the problem here is the sexual innuendo in things that should have any, like a beer or a car commercials. I still enjoy the car and the beer regardless of how many pair of tits are shaking around it.

Yeah.I think beer and car commercials shouldn't have sluts in them; I do not see the point lmao! It's just wrong in my opinion. Can't even watch tv with a youngster anymore who is well grown out of seeing Elmo everyday without them being influenced by sluts in a commercial that do not need sluts. I always forget what was being advertised because all I see is a digital whore lol !

Oh no, it's much worse than that. It's two cultures: porn and puritan fighting against each other.

That little sister if she pays attention to the media is gonna grow up in a bad way. If she enjoys sex she's labeled "nympho" if she doesn't she labeled "frigid." If she wants to show skin she's a "slut" if she's covered up she's "repressed." If she wants to get married she's a "man-trapper" if she doesn't she's "unnatural"

  • Parents need to start educating their children BEFORE they hit puberty about the pitfalls of sexuality in the media, in particular young girls. Most adults are aware of the difference between the sex that is in the media and what is acceptable in real life, but most teens don't see the difference and they have to figure it out the hard way. Some even think that it is about power but really they are giving their power away by acting slutty, boy or girl.

good point. yeah i just think society makes it unfair for a lot of us and the children...especially young girls as you said, which is ridiculous. Just irritating that you cannot escape from it. It is too forced in the media and in society....

Yes it does but it negatively influences little kids a lot and I feel society traps us and we can't get out of it no matter what it's everywhere. I do not have much of a problem with it, a little bothered mostly because I see who it effects and I did a research paper on it- doesn't only effect kids
