Is it normal that i feel my colleagues bitch about me?

I work for my degree at an institute. There was a colleague who used to bitch about me coz i wasn't comfotable with her actions at work. Yet she discussed her personal issues with be it her boyfriends or family issues. New people joined the institute after 2 years and they made good friends with her. These new colleagues seem to be influenced by her. They aren't that open with me. I feel very insecure at times. I would love to have friends at work place. I feel these new colleagues also bitch about me. Please help. THANKS....

The best way to change people's minds is by acting like you don't care. Of course people are going to be influenced by what other people say BUT they can always change their mind. Do NOT be extra nice to them, do NOT try to fit in..they will see the attempts as pathetic and it will only get worse. Just be yourself and accept yourself. How you reflect yourself to the outside world, they will perceive. The best way to resolve any situation is time and distance. Try avoiding them for a while, work on your self esteem, and then reestablish contact. Pretty soon you probably won't care what they think and you can find better people to be friends with.
Another thing is people are always going to say negative things about other people. If you hear about it, get pissed off or something and then move on. Don't dwell.

I agree act like you dont care and you're a bit paranoid too. Don't assume they talk bad about you.
