Is it normal that i feel more introverted the older i get

I'm only 20 right now but I feel like the older I get the harder it becomes for me to socialize. Of course there are less chances now that I have a job, but when I do socialize I handle meeting new people a lot worse than I used to. I just smile and stutter something awkward when people introduce themselves to me. I can't hold a conversation. It's getting worse, but maybe that's because I'm surrounded by middle-aged workers in this job... Maybe the age difference still affects me like a child talking to an adult? I dunno but it's really annoying. I want to meet people and be happy! :[

    Most people actually get better at socializing as they get older. Of course, if you never tried to change, you would only get worse... but you do say you want to be accepted... so... I would say you need to know the exact reasons why you find it hard to socialize with people.

      I've always been very introverted. Kept to myself, only ever stickaround with close friends and all that.
      Right now I just want to meet new people. I hate the bar/club scenes so the only way I ever really meet anyone is through my current friends

        The best way to meet new people is to share an activity with them... by just being constantly surrounded by people, you will have to interact with them eventually... unlike what most people believe... human instinct actually makes us want for other people to be accepted

          I like nerd things. So I go to conventions and stuff when I can. But for me that's once a year. there aren't many on near me and it's hard to convince my friends to tag along to any but the best.
          But besides that I rearely get to meet new people...
