Is it normal that i feel insecure around girls

I am a guy and I feel insecure around girls. When I was younger I would feel like I had to impress every girl I saw. Now whenever I'm around a girl I just try not to look like an idiot. But usually I will do something really stupid or clumsy like drop my pen or almost fall because I'm nervous of what she is thinking about me. It's harder for me also because I'm a short guy at 5'7" and I feel like I have to act "cool" and "macho" when I feel a girl is looking at me (and I pretend not to see her) to prove I'm not a dweeb or a loser.

    It's times like those I think of the universe, infinite time and space. All the lives that existed before mine and will exist after mine. Then all of a sudden the present feels of such insignificance I just relax into the moment. I know it sounds strange but it works for me. You're putting too much unecessary pressure on yourself. In the context of the universe, the grand scheme of all things to be is it really that big a deal?

    Maybe you should just be yourself and don't pretend "that you don't see her" but look at the girl and maybe wave or something. Girls would love that.
