Is it normal that i feel guilty for straightening my curly hair?

I have naturally curly hair and the times that I've straightened it I've felt so bad afterwards. I feel I'm gonna give everyone the impression (including myself) that I'm trying to be someone I'm not, when I just wanna try something different.

And the fact that I don't straighten it often like other curlies do makes me feel strange. I'm conflicted because I like my curly hair but I also like it straight. Pretty much torn right now.

Sounds like a hairy situation to be in. I say shave your head and live guilt free.

Your hair isn't who you are. If you like having straight hair, then straighten it. And I don't think it's strange that you like curly hair AND straight hair. It is possible to like more than one style, you know.

I have pretty much fluffy hair. Not curly, not straight. Sometimes I straighten it, other times curl it. I don't stress on other peoples thoughts about it. Just, go with your mood.

Good friend of mine, who's a bartender, had gorgeous, flowing, jet-black curly hair. Was kind of her trademark, and even women would comment on how they wished their hair looked that good and sexy, so long and amazing. Then, one night, she came on shift with shorter, straight hair that had people looking twice, saying..Is that?? Wait..She changed that incredible head of hair?

She still looked hot, but not seeing that curly mane of way-sexy hair took time to get used to. Lot of people have told her to grow it back.

Lots of people with curly hair will straighten it. It gets really tangled from what I understand. You are not a bad person for curling your hair. Do not worry about what others think and do what makes you feel happy.

I have curly hair too, and I have only straightened my hair 2 times in the last 2 years.......I feel really bad after I straighten my hair too :) I feel like I'm being mean to my hair......and I never want to go out anywhere after I staighten it, because I feel like if I meet someone new then they wil see a side of me that's fake......I see it as normal :) I love my curly hair, even though most people looove straight hair these days.

My hair is wavy/culy and dirty blonde, i love it to death, but I get more compliments with straight hair.I got over the guilt.Once you do it once, it gets easier to straighten every time.[flat ironing it every now and then won't kill it, y'know.]

you're thinking about this wayy too much. Why can't you wear it both ways? Us curly haired girls are lucky cus we can wear it two ways easily!!

I used to feel like this when I had bleached or dyed hair. I felt like it wasn't a part of me and that it was some sort of mask, covering up my natural state. I did end up growing it out eventually, though.

I don't think you're strange in the slightest, although it would maybe be best to come to terms with the fact that simply straightening your hair doesn't define your whole being.

Perhaps you feel this way because you're so used to curly hair and the change feels a little odd? Try changing your style often and experimenting with looks and you'll feel like you're being true to yourself no matter what your hair is like.

"I feel I'm gonna give everyone the impression (including myself) that I'm trying to be someone I'm not".

Doing make up, putting on clothes, combing your hair... These things also make you feel bad, because they are changing you into something that you naturally are not.

    Honestly, that doesn't make sense.

hair doesnt make a person. providing that your personality doesnt change when you change your hair style then dont worry about it.

So, do you ever put it in a pony tail? or leave it down? how about braids? It's just a different way to style you hair. I have straight hair and sometimes I curl it, same thing.
