Is it normal that i feel guilty for making objects sad?

When I was a kid I felt that I had to play equally with all my toys or else some of them would be sad and that made me feel guilty. Today I'm 19 and I feel guilty for making the clothes I wear the least sad. I'm just... concerned that they are sad because of me.
Sometimes this makes me feel very bad.

I do realize that objects have no nervous system and can't feel sad, so I don't understand why I feel this way.

Is this normal? Do other people feel like this?

I am also 19 and feel the some way sometimes. for example; I love monkeys and have many cute stuffed monkeys. I take one or two on trips I go on and I have to alternate which ones I take or I feel bad because they might feel left out.
Like you, I do understand they are not alive or anything but I still feel sad for them.

    Same here! :O
Especially with things like clothes hangers and stuff. Whenever a clothes hanger breaks, I don't want to get rid of it, because it probably feels so sad after it just broke. :( And it already did so much to help me!

Or pencils, when they get too short. I don't want to get rid of them :c

haha i used to be like this as a kid, its always the stuffed toys, couldn't let one sleep in my bed and the others have to sit on the window sill or the floor and feel neglected, those sad eyes looking at me, i guess i grew out of it. It's definitely irrational due to them being inanimate objects, but i wouldn't worry about it, if anything it shows that you have empathy and know that singling anything/anyone out of a group to be treated better than the others is going to make the rest of them feel bad.

I feel the same way. I have a bear and when I see it on the ground, I feel bad for him... yes him...
