Is it normal that i fall asleep after 2 hours of being in bed?

It has been about 9 years since my sleeping has gone out of control. Now matter how much I try, I sleep after 2, sometimes 3 hours of being in bed doing nothing. I dont use any devices before I go to sleep atleast an hour before, I exercise throught the day, I dont have any stress, yet I still cant sleep. Do you guys have something similar? If so, any idea how to prevent it?

P.s I have also tried relaxing music, reading books, drinking milk or water before sleep, even sleeping pills. None of them worked :(

Have you tried meditative relaxation techniques? Melatonin? Weaning into it by 30 minute increments? ASMR or whisper videos on youtube?

It's quite possible your circadian rhythm is not suited to the time you want to go to sleep. Many people sleep on a different schedule than the majority, like musicians. When I worked for the bands, we normally got to sleep around 4AM and got up between 9 and 10Am, and it worked very well for me. Now that I'm basically retired that is my sleep schedule again.
You might try not fighting it. Don't go to bed until 3 or 4AM. Keep busy until then and see if it helps. If you need to be up early, it won't change anything, as you already don't sleep, but toss and turn til 4 anyway. From what I've read, it is not good to remain in bed if you aren't sleeping; they say get up and do things until you are ready to go to sleep.

      This.

I was always the sort to naturally not be able to sleep until 2-3 a.m. and wake up around noon... So when I work graveyard shifts, I get GREAT sleep. Except for when I have to be awake on school days... Hence, why I can't sleep now...

When you are not tired when that occurs, sure but other than that I think that's really weird thing to happen to you this frequently.

I also take quite a while to fall asleep after getting into bed. Sometimes, I struggle to fall asleep after a dream about a cockroach.

I am extremely phobic of these little fuckers, and the slightest noise in the bedroom freaks me out and I'm instantly convinced its a huge flying one.

Having dreams about them flying towards me is a frequent thing for me, and its extremely difficult to fall asleep after I've woken up after such a dream or rather, nightmare.

Phobia aside, I take long to fall asleep almost every night and I have no idea why. I also notice most nights I have extreme heart palpitations when I lie down, and it freaks me out.

I guess some just fall asleep easier than others. It really sucks though.

I wake up two hours after falling asleep. It's probably just as bad.
