Is it normal that i enjoy looking at bad art?

Even though I don't post my own artwork on DeviantArt and I don't have an account there, I like to lurk and look at other people's artwork.

My favorite art to look at is art that was obviously done by amateurs. I'm not gonna lie, part of it boosts my own frail ego as an artist thinking "I can probably do better than that".

But another part of me genuinely likes it because I enjoy the ideas expressed in the artwork even though the execution isn't very good.

I think it's a shame that artists who lack skill get mocked when a lot of times their ideas are much more creative than the "talented" or "popular" artists. To me, a poorly-executed piece of art with a great story behind it is much better than a bland "masterpiece".

I have spent countless hours marveling at bad art, but it's a guilty pleasure and I'd be embarrassed if anyone I knew in real life caught me looking at it.

    Art is in the eye of the beholder. Bad art? How about kid art?

    I can't stand any architecture designed by/inspired by Le Corbusier. Unlike your enjoyment of "bad art". This stuff by Corbusier? I can't stand it.

    You like "bad" art. That's perfectly okay.

    Honestly, art can be bad. If the execution is poor and has no evidence of the elements or principles of design, then it will probably look really bad.

    However, the execution doesn't matter. Art is creation, and that's enough.

    I wonder the same thing. I can draw a little, portraits, nudes, scenes, but art where someone just splashes paint on a surface or sticks alot of strange objects together, for the most part escapes me.

    Yah thats really debatable unless their complete and utter nothingness like a stick figure , but yah thats highly debatable . Cuase art is a matter of expression

    We all have learning curves. I like to think of amateurs as those who are embarking on a learning curve; they will get better :)

    I can't really tell the difference between good and bad art. I mean of course a stick figure is shit but when some things are called a master piece that I see...I just don't get it. Maybe once the artist does one wonderful thing, everything is a master piece even if it looks like shit?
