I'm the same :L I'm a vegetarian too, but I know a lot of people in this position who aren't vegetarians. Make sure you get enough of the nutrition you need. Quorn and beans are good for protein and dark green leafy veg like spinach is good for iron. That helps. Some people just have a high metabolism and find it hard to put on weight no matter what.

Quorn is relatively realistic fake meat that has a very similar nutritional quality and is about the same price (I've seen it cheaper than real meat before). It's made from stuff extracted from a fungus and grown in a lab, so it's completely vegetarian. It comes in a bunch of different flavours and styles. You can have beef mince, chicken fillets, etc. You'd have to test for yourself to see if you like it though, because not everyone does. I think it's God's gift to vegetarians :D Some non-vegetarians eat it too, either because they prefer the taste or see it as a good source of protein that's more healthy than the real thing.

I am not vegetarian but I love love love quorn.

Shame I live in Norway, in a city that is more like a village and getting foods for any kind of "special" diet requires a lot of effort. There is a reason why a lot of these Norwegians travel to Sweden to do bulk food shopping. Cheaper and more variety. Still I do love Norway for some of the benefits of the relatively low-population. I am not going back to England even if I do miss the conveniences.

I'd like to go to one of the Scandanavian countries at some point. I'm terrible at learning new languages, so I could only really go for a holiday and not forever. I've got a friend who's Norwegian, and she tells me just how much cheaper a lot of things are over here in the UK. Electronics like laptops are a lot cheaper here too. I do think it's nice living somewhere where the cost of living is comparatively low (Cardiff is one of the cheaper cities to live in, too) but that's only a very small part of what makes a good society to live in :)

Yes, I like to do a lot of shopping when I come home to visit my family. So much cheaper in England. Not all things though.

Housing, for example, is cheaper here. I am buying my apartment by myself and I am so lucky as that is pretty much impossible in England. Even couples have a hard time getting a mortgage, although I hear that the government has been working on making it easier. The salary here, for most jobs, is better. A lot better. So with that in mind the cost of living is better here, for me at least. Doctors do not get paid so well here as they do in England.

There are two major reasons why I like living in Norway: Firstly, the slower pace of life here (less stress), and secondly that I am able to be self sufficient here and I could never afford that back in the South East of England (where my family live).

I really miss the convenience in England. Shops open at all sorts of crazy hours, even on Sunday wow! Transportation, oh I used to complain about how bad it seemed but now I miss it! Variety. Restaurants. Cinema and general entertainment. All that stuff about being in a big city (or even a moderate size town). Above all I miss my friends and family and yes I miss our culture sometimes too.

Sorry got a bit off topic here :S oops.

    A bit? :P

Anywho, how fast you gain weight depends on the speed of your metabolism. You probably have a high metabolism. People with slow metabolisms gain weight quickly. Your metabolism can be regulated through exercise and diet.
