Is it normal that i dream in different languages?

I was once fluent in Spanish when I was very young, didn't use it and began to lose it, and now it is coming back to me since I am taking classes. (My brain stored it) Anyway, even though I don't know it very well I am having dreams in Spanish and for some reason I understand what everyone is saying when they are speaking Spanish I have never learned before. Perhaps the dream realm has access to the part of my brain where the Spanish is all stored? It's pretty cool, but then I'll wake up and have no idea what was going on. I also had a dream in Norwegian (a 3rd language I'm learning) but I couldn't understand any of it. Could this prove that my dreams have access to my long lost Spanish since I am studying Norwegian but can't understand dreams in it? I believe this proves that languages aren't fully forgotten, just stored. Anyone else have dreams in foreign languages that they forgot? Or am I just a a rare case?

The language will still be stored away in your subconscious.

Congratulations on knowing more languages than us. Do you feel good about yourself?

  • That's cool:) sometimes I dream about doing complex mental math and wake up exhausted and frustrated.

How are you aware that you are dreaming in Norwegian, if you can't comprehend what anyone is saying?

I know a few words in it, enough to have a decent conversation so I can point them out but not enough to comprehend the dream.
