Is it normal that i dont want a funeral?

I thought about this for the past 2 years and mainly it is because I don't like the idea of somebody(Not Family) profitting from my death. I think it's crazy the amount of money people spend everyday just to put a dead body in dirt to rot. When you really think about it what purpose does a funeral serve? Closure??? Humph! Its a social gathering with a corpse as the main character. Do you really feel better about your loss of a family member by spending thousands of dollars that you probably dont have? Or does knowing that you will receive monies
(Insurance,Family,Friends) take a load off your mind...

I don't want a funeral exactly; I want a celebration of the life that I did live! People should remember the good times, you know? Oh, I also want clowns to be at my... Ah, life celebration.

Yeah, it's a waste of money. I don't want a viewing, that's creepy. I just want them to toss my body out in the woods so that my decaying corpse can get back in the soil like it's supposed to, not rot away uselessly in a wooden box :p

we didn't have one for my mom, and we're not having one for my brother. there may be a party in my brother's honor, but it will just be his friends and family getting together and remembering the good times. both were cremated.

U have a point. My dads funeral was just before Christmas and when we booked it and chose coffin etc I just thought " you robbing bastards". I'm not begrudging my dad this but I know he'd have felt the same...... I know these people have overheads but the total came to several grand for a basic funeral. The Money would be better going to a charity (such as a cancer one, what my dad died of). However unless I know the deceased wanted to not have a funeral I don't know how I'd feel about not having one....
