Get a part time job, volunteer, etc. I know people say it's easy to get out there and make friends but it really isn't. You really have to make the effort, it will be alot easier if you find people with similar interests.

Just keep being positive and joyful and youl make friends, but don't try to empress people that's going at it the wrong way.
Try getting involved in social activities. Volunteer. Join clubs and committees. You will meet new people with whom you have something in common.
