Is it normal that i dont have conventional ideas about what slutty is?

Now obviously there are times and places for certain kinds of dress and you need to dress appropriately for a situation, but to give you some examples...

I just got myself a few pairs of what could be considered short shorts this past summer, because I decided I was tired of trying to "not be a slut" all the time and buy things that look good. I dress tastefully, but I like to wear shorts with high stockings, sleeveless tops and shirts that are artfully ripped. I have a bellyshirt for raves thats cut with danglies all over it with beads, and a shirt with a huge open back (for showing off once I get my back tattoos :P), shirts slit up the sides and so on. I think showing skin in such ways is artsy in a way, Im an artist and my body is just another one of my canvases to decorate.

I go to raves and often Ill wear shorts and small shirts, or just a bra; a few times Ive gone in lingere to themed events. I know many people would consider this kind of behavior slutty, but the way I see it its possible to express your sexuality and dress sexy while still having respect for yourself; I love my body and I see nothing wrong with letting it show. Im a really open minded person, Im not bothered by any amount of nudity in a casual setting as I see nothing wrong or dissgraceful with the human body. Nor do I see it as being an entirely sexual thing, as I said, its simply natural. Of course now we are aroused to see a nude body because for so long people have worn clothes, we're conditioned to that sort of thing. At nudist colonies and such you dont walk around seeing boners eveywhere, because once nudity becomes casual its just like hanging out clothed. :P

Sorry for making this kinda long but I wanted to make sure I covered the topic well. So yeah, basically I want to know what you guys think? Is it normal to think being open about your sexuality is a good thing, rather than making one a slut? :)

People who bandy about words like "slut" ...well, to my mind, it says more about them than the person they are referring to.

There is nothing wrong with the human body or sexuality. Don't worry about letting people with hang-ups get you down.

I think of slutting as more in your actions than dress. Most of the time when a girl calls another girl a slut just because of how they dress, they're jealous they can't wear the same thing.

It sounds like your concept of what is slutty is right in line with what others would consider slutty, but that you're comfortable with yourself looking like that. I don't see anything wrong with that. There are things that I think are perfectly fine for myself that I think other, more prudish people would find apalling.

I do agree with the comments before me. However, I do not think it is directly 'normal' to go to a party or any other social gathering wearing only underwear, it seems kind of inappropriate to me. I have had my share of raves, and especially the guys at such parties do not see it as a 'natural' thing, but as an easy lay.

I do believe you think differently, but you should really consider how other people might consider your way of clothing. Don't get me wrong, I love it when my girlfriend dresses a bit promiscuous, but there are certain limits to what is socially acceptable, keep that in mind.

Well thats kind of the point I was trying to make up top is that dress code depends on the social situation. Considering lingere is a pretty common thing to see girls wearing at raves its really not looked down upon, and besides, its not much different from walking around at the beach or boardwalk in a bikini. Difference being my shit probably covers more of myself.

I can understand the need to be careful in such a situation for sure, there are always those guys who get gropey gropey, but honestly Ive never had a real problem at a rave. I never go alone (and anymore Im always with my bf) and way too suspicious of people to let a stranger get close enough to fuck with me. :)

I get it, and you shouldn't see me as a square or conservative, me and my gf attend such events and I love it when she dresses a bit promiscuous, but im always happy that I am there because there are some real freaks out there

I like what you said about being "simply natural". Why would you want to mar a natural beauty with tattoos?

Like I said, for the sake of art :p I love the natural yes, but even in very earth centered, tribal cultures body modification often plays a pivotal role for people. As an artist I see my body as another canvas, and I'll keep putting ink in myself (responsibly) until I'm satisfied with what I've created :)

Art and creativity is an abstraction.

Depends whether you're talking about the idea of art or the artwork itself. ;P But all ideas are abstractions, so what? Our conscious makes them "real" in their own way. They exist through our actions.

There is a reason why we need to wean ourselves away from tattoos.
We will soon (sooner than you think) have new technologies, transporters and replication technologies. These are basically the same thing, except that replication technology has an additional module.

Think about it. We will be able to replicate virtually anything, inanimate or animate. The first thing that will come to many people's mind is, I will be able to replicate body parts as I wear them out, thus becoming virtually immortal.

Many other people will want to make replicas of themselves, military administrations will want millions of copies of 'the perfect soldier', doctors will want to use these technologies to cure all the diseases. Is this Ethical?

The answer is NO. This planet is already over-populated. The main reason for this is, that we have learned to defeat nearly every disease. With this new technology, we will be able to defeat the remaining diseases. This planet can only sustain 700 million Human inhabitants over the long term and we already have over ten times that amount, and our population is expanding rapidly.

Hell, go naked for all I care.
You seeing it as a natural thing, instantly means you're not slutty.

    You would be slutty if:
You'd do things to make men want to fuck you.
You do things with those random men who want to fuck you.
You'd go to spring break to fuck/make out.
    And much more...

Anyway, what you do and how you think, is nothing of the sort.

I dont believe these actions in and of themselves necessitate sluttiness though. I see it as more of an attitude, or a girl who clearly doesnt respect herself.

There is a respectful way to be open about ones sexuality, is the way I see it. A woman can dress in a way that makes men want to fuck her without being dressed tastelessly, if shes done up all pretty men will want her just the same as if shes dressed scantily.

Nor is it necessarily wrong to go out looking for sex. Any given day in this college town many guys and girls go out looking to get laid. Does that make them sluts? I dont think so, just people who want sex.

I guess imo a slut would be someone who sleeps around indiscriminantly, who doesnt respect him or herself and who isnt responsible about their sexual encounters. o.o

Frankly, I didn't neccesarily mean that IF you do those things, you're a slut. Just trying to make a point really. ^^

I don't think you used necessitate correctly :/ it isn't a synonym for 'equals'.

But I generally agree with your idea of what constitutes slutty.
