Is it normal that i dont care about my birthday?

Its now 12:10 am and its my birthday. But i dont care. I know im 19 now and a year older but... i dont care. Infact no one cares. I dont care that they dont care. Its just a number right? Its kinda depressing in a way. I dont plan for it or expect anything differnt to happen. Nothing differnt will happen. Im exactly the same as yesterday and i'll do the same thing as yesterday. Is it normal i feel this way?

You're normal. I don't care about my birthday and I don't like for other people to make a big deal about it. I don't like sitting in front of a bunch of people and opening gifts that I may or may not want but probably don't need and being the center of attention. And being sung to horribly embarrassing to me.

Yeah I don't really like celebrating birthdays that much either, I can't stand having people all around and giving me attention because it gives me anxiety...but I do like my birthday as an excuse to go out and have a nice dinner, buy myself something nice...I love celebrating other peoples birthdays though and giving them presents.

I remember my 19th birthday wasn't really something great to me .. I'm almost 20 now.. And let me tell you that you will change by the end of your 19th year :) and hopefully to a better person.. as we always wish to be!

Well you can start by writing down the list of things you've always wanted to do.. Maybe you'll get it done this year.. Maybe 19 is more exciting! just not on the very first day of it :)

    Oh HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :D

      Cheers.

LOL yeah. I "HATE" being given stuff, even for christmas. I like to think they could have saved their money for something useful, since a simple happy birthday is way more than enough.

it's normal, I'm gonna be 22 this year, not hype.

You just get worn out with this things, people who are still spoilt will always be expecting presents as usual.

    and happy birthday

as long as people don't piss you off on your birthday then you can feel in any mood you want, but don't be grumpy on your birthday too.

well, yes and no. Yes it is normal to feel that way (birthdays are not important or even celebrated by everyone), but the fact that you posted this question and that you said it is kind of depressing, makes me think you do care just a little - which is okay. I've had birthdays like that too. Happy belated- Birthday!

I don't care about my birthday, either. It's just more unwanted attention. My stepmother wants to have a party for me for my birthday, but she's mainly inviting her friends, and deciding all the dishes for me. It's my 21st, and it annoys me that what I may want to do was never considered. She's a really sweet person, but she's also really controlling and I just know this is just going to turn into "her" party, as usual. I just want to go out and have a drink with people instead of having to put up with her and her endless self-absorbed chatter.

    Yes.
I stopped caring since my 14th birthday.
not a big deal really... but presents are always good thought (at least i don't have to buy it)

When I was kid, I liked birthdays because I would presents. But now? I really don't care anymore. I could get anything I want with my money and at any time, so that really kills the excitement.

Once you have a job and get money, present days aren't really fun anymore.

Still, a surprise party is always great.

    How's that beard coming along?

I agree with what's been said already. I don't see my birthday as a big deal at all. It's nice when people remember, but I don't see what all the fuss is about when people insist that you have to do this or that.

The number is just a way to pretend that you're older, when you're still the same person. You don't suddenly morph into someone else. It's what you do during the year that counts.

I really don't find my birthday exciting anymore at all. Since I turned 20, it's really not exciting. In fact, I hate birthdays now cause it just means I'm getting older and older every year, which is SO depressing. I loved birthdays as a kid, but I hate them as an adult.

Okay you don't care. but the fact that your posting means you do care.

So in reality you really do care , and you want other people to care. so if you care. other people will care.
