Is it normal that i don't wash new clothes before i wear them?

Whenever I buy new clothes like a polo, underwear, and jeans, I don't wash them before I wear them for the first time. I figure the material is all new and clean so it doesn't matter. Is it normal?

I never wash new clothes. I like the way they feel and fit. Once I wash them, they are like "tainted" to me and become work-out clothes. If I dont sweat in it, Ill just hang it up and wear it again.

Ohhh for ctyin out aloud !!!! Really..all you 'germ freaks'. You are sitting on a chair that has had 'fecal traces' and using a keyboard that is probably dirtier than a dogs bum in germ content...and everytime you touch your mouth it has millions of bacteria..and whats the bet you stick your tongue in someone elses mouth too......and yet you worry about a pair of sock that may have had a dirty hand touch it, or someone may have tried a dress on before you. Really !! Do you wash the paper money and coins that you handle before you eat your burger with your HANDS that have touched every bug known to mankind !!!

If I was rich I would only wear new socks straight from the bag. When I take them off they go to charity. New shirts stink. Chemicals to, should wash that shit before you get genetic damage from the chemicals

I prefer to wash them first, in case other people have tried them on before me. But sometimes I can't wait so I just wear them if they don't smell funneh.

Underwear yes. Because even though you're supposed to try them on with your underwear on people don't.

As far as underwear goes, I will generally only buy packaged underwear, and, even then, will check them for cleanliness before I wear them...I've been burned twice before on that, believe it or not, where they've been stained before I've put them on (the only thing I can think of is that someone put them on in a fitting room, dirtied them, then put them back in the package...sick, in my opinion...Otherwise, I think that generally it is okay not to wash something new before wearing it, unless you don't like the new clothes smell...or want it to look better coming out of the dryer (or perhaps ironed)...

Ironically I once bought packaged underwear (3 pairs to a package)...and two of them were dirty before I'd even worn them...and I agree with you...that's sick...but as a rule I also agree with you that it's normally okay...

New clothes are treated with formaldehyde so who knows, maybe wearing them without washing them first will keep you looking younger.

I don't usually wash mine first either, but I would NEVER buy underwear off a rack where others could have tried it on. Ew.

I read a study where they examined particles found in stores, and almost every article had fecal particles, disease-causing germs, and even sperm. Underwear are gross unless they are in a package because dirty people rifle through them. You don't know where peoples hands have been. It's best to wash them first...at least undergarments.

They are saying the bedbugs are coming from foreign countries and you should atleast throw new clothes in the dryer to kill them.

It's best to wash them because other people try them on at stores, and while shipping they may have been in unclean areas.

But it most likely won't cause you any harm.
