Is it normal that i don't want to be like everyone else?

I'm very different from most people I meet. I don't like to drink alcohol, party or even hang-out with friends. A good time for me is spending time with my family in any kind of activity or just watching TV. I don't like coffee or soda or fast food, but I don't feel like it is bad if others around me do. I like bringing my lunch everyday to work and eating by myself while on the phone with my spouse. The only drama i like to have in my life is the one found on TV, movies or in a book. I just like living a semi-hassle free life. Is this normal?

Why wouldn't it be normal... There are alot of fake people out there you probably preffer to be someone real that you know and you trust

You sound like me… I spend my time at work in the same way lol. It can be a little isolating though.. people have their suspicions that I spend all my time talking on the phone during lunch to another girl.. its fun to keep them guessing I think lol

Just be prepared to have people think you are weird.. while they watch their endless boring tv programs and shop at the mall all day lol

Totally normal. You're just anti-social and more comfortable doing your everyday routine. Maybe you're just one of those people who don't like to change the things they do daily.

Just from the title - not like everyone else - it's not normal. Doesn't mean it's bad though. Sometimes it's good to go against the norm.

  • Thank you mtnw - you really made me feel better. Today I forced myself to go to the cafeteria and it was a disaster! Even though I talked with a few people, it felt forced and I really didn't enjoy myself at all. Starting tomorrow, I'm going to go back to my old routine and stop worring about it. I really enjoy "having lunch" with my spouse even though it is only through the phone.

you are normal. if you find that your co-workers are not your "type" and don't enjoy spending lunch with them, then don't. you are an adult now, and lunch time is not like recess at school. even if they aren't your type, always be friendly and respectful.

It sounds pretty normal, aside from the part where you only talk to your spouse when you eat lunch. It's important to meet people where you work.
