Is it normal that i don't want or don't plan to drive?

bumper cars and go karts are totally cool.
but driving an actual vehicle.
i don't want to drive. i don't feel like it.

i was planning on taking it once i was done with high school,i'm in my second year of college and campus is really far, but i've been taking public transports and i'm totally fine with walking. i've passed my theory and have yet to drive the actual thing... which i'm totally avoiding (not deliberately, i had classes almost everyday.)

i don't like how people go all 'you don't know how to drive? seriously?'
it's not a matter of chauffeuring people around or having people rely on you (designated driver and stuff like that), i just don't feel the need to drive.

heck, i DON'T WANT TO.
here's a shout out to my friends and parents: KISS MY ASS I'M NOT GONNA DRIVE.

Yeah, I'd rather ride a horse everywhere.

If you somehow manage to get a girlfriend without driving, then not having a car is the best thing you can do.

    • i'm a girl :D

i know it's somewhat safer to have a car (i mean, late nights and taking public transports alone? i'm stocking up on pepper sprays and rape whistles)

Funny, I haven't learned to drive yet, but it looks amazing... And I've always enjoyed driving in Grand Theft Auto. I'd even stop at all the lights, and try and follow the road rules.

Once you feel the sort of "independence" from being able to drive... I think you will have a change of heart.

It can be difficult in some areas. If you have access to public transportation and you live near work/school there is little reason to drive. I gave up my car for a few months as an experiment and it was rather liberating. A few things are inconvenient but not so much so that I can't do it. I am lucky to have the ability to go carless and I wish it was more "normal" in the US. But most cities are designed poorly for this reality. If you can do it, don't let friends pressure you into driving if you don't want to do it.

    • i know there are definitely advantages to knowing how to drive, i don't want to give myself excuses but i just don't know how to not make it a priority to finish the driving course. perhaps i'm just being lazy. u_u

I do think it is a good skill to have. And if your are just being lazy, then it doesn't really matter. I only meant that it is okay to be a non driver.
