Is it normal that i don't want friends?

I'm a 26 year old male and I feel like I don't need a social life. It's been two years since I hung out with anyone (other than family) and I honestly feel great! All we ever did was smoke pot, drink, and play video games. I was going no where fast and I felt depressed all the time. Since ditching everyone, I've had time to learn guitar, quit smoking, get in shape and actually read! So yeah, is it normal for me to prefer being a loner?

You are on the right track. It is called growing up. You may be a late bloomer. Go for it man. Ditch those lazy, weak willed creeps you once hung with.

I'm like this too. I have two friends who I see occassionally, and people I talk to only at work. That satisfies me enough. Other than that the only other person besides family I socialise with is my boyfriend. When he's out with his mates, I feel like I should be too- but I have no desire to be. I prefer the company of myself for some reason. Normal! Or we're both weird....

    You're right, OP.
I have more fun on my own than when hanging out with friends. I'm also much more productive if no-one's around me when I work.
I enjoy the freedom of being alone.
