So basically as the title says, am I normal for not desiring a large public wedding? Is it so wrong that I just want to go to a courthouse and say my vows?
I had a small wedding, spent the $$ on the trip to Hawaii after. No regrets.
Thats what I want to! I want to go to the courthouse, then afterwards have dinner at an olive garden with a couple of friends and our family :]
Totally normal, when my partner and I get married, I don't want the huge expense and stressful drama. Yes it would be nice to have some family there, but I would also be happy just to sneak off and get married.
The point for me is the love and commitment, not the drama, I can't wait to marry my guy. I think the drama is for younger girls having their 'big day', usually when they have a mother to organise it all! lol
thanks for the comments and support. my best friend thinks I should have what she deems a "real wedding" with cake & a dress. she is always telling me I will regret my decision, but I just want a small wedding. I don't care to wear white or anything expensive. I just wish she'd understand.
I'd say it's very normal to not want a huge fuss of a wedding. I attended a few and with 1000 guests, the newlyweds can barely enjoy their early hours of being a married couple in an ocean of people trying to congratulate them one by one. A small simple wedding would be very beautiful and much more meaningful than a marketplace disguised as a wedding party.
Absolutely not! I do not want a big hoopla wedding either...they are too expensive & stressful! I always said when I get married, I am going to elope or go to the courthouse. Think of all the money & heartache you will spare! I am just astounded at the amount of money people spend on weddings...it's absolutely ridiculous!

Yeah, when my parents got married, they just went to the courthouse.
It just depends on your preference.
