Is it normal that i don't understand why family is so important?

For most people, their family is their closest and most important people. I don't understand why. They are just a random bunch of people that you happened to be born in. Don't get me wrong though. I care about my mother who I grew up with. If I had my own family, my own children, they would mean whole world to me. However, when it comes to other family members, such as cousins and aunts, I couldn't care less about them. I feel about them the same way I feel about any random stranger.

    I feel exactly the same. My cousins I have grew up with I like them but those I don't know well I don't care very much for them .

    I feel the same way.

    Why do I have to feel forced to see these people on holidays when there are other people I'd much rather see?

    Family is people who you truly care about, it doesn't matter if they're not related to you, likeif they are your best friends. The word you're looking for to describe your cousins and aunts are "relatives," not "family."

    Normal. The people you see almost everyday are the ones you care about. The people you don't see aren't really important due to the fact that there's no emotional connection. I've had aunts, uncles, and cousins die and I really didn't give two fucks.

    I could understand where you're coming from. I recently visited my grandma who I haven't seen in at least 10yrs and for some reason she just smothers me with love and attention. Same with my cousin. I haven't seen these people since I was a kid, they aren't strangers but more like a memory. I like my grandma and cousins, they're great people, but I wouldn't say I love them as I do not know them. I think the people that you keep in contact with and are always around you and care for you are important, and for some people, like me, that's there immediate family. So I personally understand why you would feel that way about your aunts as you are not close to these people.
