Is it normal that i don't understand social cues?

I don't understand a lot of social cues and conventions.I don't get how people can be outgoing and friendly.Heck, most of the time starting a conversation is a challenge.I don't really get how people are supposed to pick this stuff up as they grow up.

How old are you anyway? I think it's normal. People learn through experience.

  • You're either immature, lacking in self-confidence, or autistic.

when i was in school i used to make fun of people like you i never got how some people could be so awkward... i also noticed some people are chill when you've known them for a while but act really tense when first meeting someone i guess it's normal but i still don't get it .. weird

You have to work on it yourself. I have always been supershy - as in no eye contact or speaking the first few meetings. But at 23 I learned its kinda hard to do job interviews like that. Try just being more open with random people (youll prob never see them again anyways so don't fret.) Ask the clerk at the store how their day has been. Hold the elevator for someone at the mall, talk about the weather. Heck, just smile & say good morning when you walk past someone! It'll all start feeling more natural.

I should mention that what you described is not "abnormal", but it can be inconvenient, hence my suggestions.

Same here, just try too think that these ppl are the same as you they deal with the same struggles. Besides if they dont pay your bills you shouldnt really give a rats what they think right?

I myself struggle with the social aspects in life. I act in the most awkward of fashions and often find myself without a clue on how to react about certain things or what to say as a response. Do not feel inadequate because of such a minor set back. Do not let it stop you from living life your own way :)
You will always know people who seem naturally equipped with the mentality and understanding it takes to interact socially. Do not envy them, as there are many out there who would love your awkward ways and find that the less outspoken you are, the more trustworthy you may be and the stronger the bond they hold with you may be.

Neither do I. I've made allot of mistake talking to people. Sometimes, my shyness gets to me and I won't say anything to anyone:/

lol me either. I've always been shy and a loner and have embarrassed myself quite a few times but at least I learned from my mistakes.
