Is it normal that i don't shut off the light when i leave the room?

I don't care about leaving the light on when I leave the room, even though I know it's wasting electricity and bad for the environment.

It's exceptionally wasteful and inconsiderate. Especially when, I'm assuming, you're not the one paying the electricity bill!

Maybe that's because you are a bird.

If I'm not gone long, I leave it on. (< 1 minute)
If I'm going to be out of the room for a considerable amount of time, I turn it off.

If you're paying the electricity bill, It adds up and will be costing you.

A single, standard compact florescent light bulb costs about 0.2508c/hr to leave on (U.S. Average)
    = 6.0192c/day
    = $ 21.97/year/light bulb left on.

Your light fixture may have more than one light bulb, so multiply $21.97 by the number of light bulbs to find out how much money you're wasting.

Incandescent light bulbs use 5 times more energy, so each Incandescent light bulb costs you $109.85 per year to leave on.

If you have a fitting with 6 Incandescent light bulbs as is popular in bathrooms and dining rooms, that costs you $659.10 per year.

Imagine having $600+ more money in your pocket just for turning the lights off in one room!

And saving much more by turning unnecessary lights off throughout your whole house!

I don't care what you do, either.

Who cares about the money, it's just wasteful in general and shows a lack of ... a lot of things. Do you litter and expect others to pick up after you too. Do you leave the water running when you brush your teeth...my guess is yes. I have a hard time understanding this. Why would you leave it on? How much effort does it take to turn it off? Why was it on in the first place.

Boy, it sure must be nice to have all that disposable income! If you live at home, I'm sure your parents appreciate your consideration, too.

I think you will when you realise how much money you could save for 1 seconde of your time.

I do that too especially when I think of people, like my sister, who get angry about it then I feel I simply must leave the light on.
