Is it normal that i don't like real women?

It seems like whenever I see a real girl or something I kind of just "meh". I guess I don't find them attractive at all, and no I'm not gay either. I just don't feel anything for anyone and a few years back I got into anime (This has been going on since before I started watching Anime.) and I fell in love with these personalities and cute girls, they just seem so much nicer, prettier, and over all just better. My friend told me he thinks it's because they're Asian and that's how they grew up. Maybe I just don't like the Women in this country? What do you nyugas think?

yep, love anime as well and couldn't say it better. Although i thought that asian girls would be a solution. Dated a bunch. ahh..nope- it doesn't work like that.
of course, my experiences are not yours, so there's a chance you'll find a jap. girl you'll like, but generally -if you go to japan and expect it to be like anime shows, prepare to be disappointed.

I'll be honest, when I actually started watching Anime I feared that I wouldn't find "real" women attractive. You have to realize that anime girls are drawn to perfection, or at least close to it. However, there are some girls out there who are quirky, nice, and pretty like the ones you see. Honestly, I believe that you need to lay off the anime. I know what it's like to wish that you could marry an anime girl, but at the end of the day you have to realize that it's just a cartoon and this is real life, not some anime.

  • Well mabey because anime girls are hotter than real ones as they can draw their bodies to be better than that of real life womens. I mean a chick with a size 2 waist and tits as big as your head isn't easy to find in the real world lol Derrrrrrp derrrrrrrr

Female animé characters often don't reflect the reality, just as the males don't. They typically reflect an idealised form of femininity, for example; shy and cute, passive, kawaii girls who blush and just want a boyfriend to love and please... So of course it's normal to prefer an idealised type of woman. Almost always these female characters are ENTIRELY CREATED by men.

They are also typically inaccurate portrayals of asian women - if you go to Japan, China, Korea etc. you will realise the reality is different. I've noticed a lot of Western males find this asian female stereotype particularly appealing because it seems so different from the 'Western' female stereotype; specifically, that asian women are more submissive, more caring, less superficial, more hard working, more delicate, more grateful, less promiscuous. They are like the image of women we had shoved down our throats 100 years ago. But as I say, art in this case does not always imitate life.

Fact is, most of us separate fantasy from reality, and have different preferences in both. My ideal fantasy girl is not my ideal reality girl.

I am asian...well, half asian anyway, and I am very caring, submissive, not superficial, very delicate, grateful, and not at all promiscuous. But I suppose not all asians are like this, so yes, stereotyping is dumb. What I find odd is that most of the men I talk to say I am too submissive, need to have more of a backbone, etc. So I wasn't aware that submissiveness was something that drew men to anime...

I wouldn't say that submissiveness is something that draws men to animé, but certainly it draws some men to female characters in animé.

Some men find submissiveness very appealing, and confidence and assertiveness in a woman unappealing (sometimes intimidating).

Submissiveness, insecurity and low-self-esteem are traits typically attached to female animé characters (specifically those intended to be love interests / dream girls). It encourages the idea that these girls will submit to them, be loyal to them, love them and never challenge them or argue with them. I have a feeling this reflects a cultural view prevalent in Japan.

Add to that the exaggerated, simplified features and overtly feminine outfits all intended to make the character cute and innocent / naively sexual, and you have some guys' dream lady.

That's one specific animé cliché I'm talking about, mind you. There are female characters totally opposite to this. It's just my experience that shy kawaii girls are the ones male weeaboos obsess over :D

I guess that's why so many guys describe me as their dream girl. *laughs*
But really, thanks for taking time to explain how some men see things, and even as a female, I must say that it is sad that there are so few innocent, submissive, devoted, and feminine women in the Western world today.

Personally I'm backwards to this stereotype. I like the woobie girly guys that run away in fear, and I love the badass evil women who'd sooner kill you then go down in your pants. Probably doesn't help that I always watch the gory animes with lots of blood.

Us women aren't that bad. Maybe your just hanging out with the wrong ones or not bothering to actually meet any. If you are under 18 I wouldn't bother anyway, enjoy your childhood.

I would take a several month break from watching anime/reading manga and see if your view of women changes. Here's the deal, if you are only attracted to anime chicks, then you will die a lonely old masturbation addict. If you get into real chicks, you may find love and have your genes passed onto the next generation.

I would say...I have the same problem like you...Since I'm a girl, I couldn't like any man out of the anime. Even not the movie stars (well some of them are nice though)
I would say this is bad, because you live in the real world...try to socialize with people, make yourself get into the society, maybe your OTAKU situation would be more normal.

Well, I don't like real guys; just celebrities, but I always have to remind myself that celebrities aren't real. They're fictional characters created so that the media can make money.

Lol... Honestly I'm a girl and since I've gotten into anime, I like anime guys (and girls) more. I am still physically/sexually attracted to boys, I mean I have a boyfriend and everything, but I've never been too crazy about boys like my friends in school were. I've hardly had any crushes and I'm not obsessed with all the celebrities my friends think are hot, I've just... never been too into that. But I can swoon over an anime character all day, any day. And although I'm also into anime girls, I wouldn't consider myself bi.. because they're fictional.

I never got into anime myself but I can see the attraction to anime women. Beautiful, perfect, smart, funny, they are made to be dream women!
