Is it normal that i don't like partying?

I kind of feel like college parties are all the same. I can't speak for clubs and bars because I'm not old enough yet but from what I've experienced it's all the same. Girls get all dressed up to impress guys that wear the same thing they wore to class. Everybody drinks nasty beer...even the people that don't like it because they want to get a buzz...or even drunk. The same Top 40 songs all the time with a little bit of old school sprinkled in (usually Living on a Prayer or Don't Stop Believing). Guys (and girls) constantly on the look out for someone to hook up with that night but chances are that very few of them are getting any. It all seems the same, and it seems like everyone's into it except me. I feel like I should like it, because that's what people do in college right??

But honestly, why do we have to drink and hook up to have a good time?!?!

So. Am I normal?? or rather, has anyone else noticed this?

Because who gives a fuck? There doesn't have to be a reason behind it, it's just fun. It's great for destressing after a long week, builds social bonds, all that jazz, but really most of all it's just fun. Try it an you might actually like it. Don't even try to hook up, just drink with friends and whatever happens happens. Sometimes you just need to turn your brain off and get on autopilot, it's good for your mental health in the long run...as long as auto pilot doesn't kill you

I've tried it. And to be honest it was fun for awhile...met a lot of "partying friends" but sober they were like strangers. i've had my fair share of drunken stupors, shitty hangovers and hook-ups. After a while it just seemed like we were all trying to top the last great night we had. anyway, for me, it got old really fast. to each his own i guess

  • Yeah college partying has gotten pretty old for me too. I usually prefer smaller get-togethers where pretty much everyone is personally invited by the host. More intimate, more chill.

plenty of people don't like it. most do it to fit in. If you can feel happy and included where you stand in life without joining in these events, then I envy you to no end.

It'll get more fun once you can get into bars, since that way you can change it up a little. There's a larger diversity in types of bars. I detested parties too before I was at a legal bar age, for the same reason. It's normal.
