Use this trick: look at the person just above the eyes, they won't know the difference.

It's normal to not like it. I've been forcing myself to try and hold eye contact, and luckily, I'm getting used to it!

Eye contact is considered confidence, so, keep that in mind!

  • I personally dont like it either, I dont have a problem initiating it, but I dont like holding it for more then a few seconds at a time, just seems intimidating for some reason. I dont really feel intimidated, I just feel like I am being intimidating by holding it for some reason.

Same here. I understand it's importance but I just hate it.

I am exactly the same way, and have been my whole life. Eye contact feels really uncomfortable and overwhelming. When someone looks me in the eye it makes me want to flinch.

Practice making prolonged eye contact everyday for a month. It will become natural and you will feel more confident and get more respect. Its tough as shit at first but it gets natrual.

i think it's normal... but do you always do this to every single person? what about family members or close friends? people you're most comfortable with?

Happens all the time, just try to look at a mole on their face or something behind them... If that doesn't work, do what i do and just ignore them and walk away...

Yeah, and the more you think about it, the weirder it gets. Try to really focus on what the person is saying, and once you relax, your eyes will settle in a more natural place.

    Yes its normal.

I personally keep eye contact most of the time or watch their mouths because I'm rather use to it. Though this is mainly because since I was little I had to learn to cope with keeping conversations with people because I have a hearing disorder. I really need to focus or else I misunderstand them and have to ask them repeat multiple times or I believe what I heard when it's something completely different.

So for me it doesn't feel so awkward.

Although it's ridiculous because a lot of times from the past guys thought I really liked them because I actually looked at them and listened to them. They just needed to grow up and pay attention to other things besides me just being nice and actually listening to them.

I usually try to sustain eye contact with someone when we are talking, but if they are a random stranger then I have trouble holding eye contact.
