Is it normal that i don't like america?

I don't mean to be like, racist or anything. I'm not saying AMERICANS SUCK THEY'RE ALL FAT or anything like that. I just don't like the country. I don't like hearing about it's history, it's ideals, things like that. I don't say the Pledge of Allengiance in school, things like that. Is this normal or am I just weird?

  • Americans can be rude and overly arrogant sometimes. Americans love their country and think they're the best (they're not) even though a lot of their culture is laughed at (like their love of monster trucks) but if you learn to accept this they can be friendly.

One other annoying thing about Americans is that they criticise many other countries just because they're not the same. America feels that only the US matters.

You both are stereotyping idiots. Since when the hell are us Americans in love with monster trucks? We do not think we're the best or any of the other ridiculous shit you said. America does have its faults, just like any other country! I pity you so much. You're just that TYPICAL person looking for reasons to hate.

I think much of American history is boring, until the 1900's or so, and some 1800's but I can't stand reading about anything from the colonial era. The civil earbud where I start to take interest. I don't think America is much worse than many other parts if the world and were lucky to have what we got but I hate a lot of things about (all) governments. You're lucky you can say that and not be hunted down and murdered like other countries right now... People are people, despite birthplace. All the same bullshit.

I am from Canada, but have been living in the States for about a year now, I personally do not see too much of a difference.
Its not that there are a lot of arrogant Americans, there is just a lot of arrogant people, it just so happens that a lot of them live in the States, but really, they are everywhere.
I dont understand how you can hate American history, it is incredibly fascinating.

I agree with Todd and think Americans are lucky in some way because it's still okay to be patriotic. I'm British and our long history equates patriotism with nationalism. I remember seeing the Union Jack erected (for reasons I don't understand) on a bus station near me and my first thought was, "Oh my lord, someone is going to get into trouble for that". Kind of sad, really.

America has some pretty harsh history, it can be hard to swallow. However it sounds like you are just being lazy about your education. Or did you read "People's History of the United States" and come to this conclusion? Because that shit is fucked up. And the US history is intertwined with that of many nations- do you like history at all. Or are you just a whiny little bitch who doesn't like their history teacher?

That's a typical reply one would expect from an american..."if you don't like it leave".

If the US felt like only it matters. Why are they always the first to help all the other countries in time of need?

Maybe you should live in another country for awhile, then you'll see how lucky you are to live in America and be proud of it!!

Obviously you are not old enough to enjoy what this country has to offer. Not old enough to appreciate the backs of the older generations that helped build this country. I agree that our leaders of today are out of touch on what this country really means. The struggles, the rejoicing. Not gimme gimme. I am proud to put my hand over my heart and say the Pledge of Allegiance. Young whipper snapper.

That's retarded. "Land of the free...as long as you shut up and pretend you love it".

Pretending to love your country unconditionally is pseudo-patriotism. A real patriot would point out their country's faults and attempt to improve upon them.
