Is it normal that i don't know how to use chopsticks?

I never eat Asian food without chopsticks! My dad served two tours in Vietnam so basically I learned to use them just like I learned to use regular silverware when I was a little kid. I honestly thought learning to use chopsticks was normal and good manners.

if you want to learn you can use the rubber band around the ends to keep them together to get started

Some people just can't.

I can't abide chopsticks. In an oriental restaurant I will ask for a knife and fork. Or just a spoon if I really want to annoy or embarrass my fellow diners.

But it's so easy though.
