Is it normal that i don't have a talent or something that i'm good at?

I feel I am not good at anything. That there is nothing for me. That I try something and I can't do it, I'm not good at it, and I don't like it. I feel all my friends, and basically everyone does something. They either play a sport, or have a talent. The play volleyball, or play basket ball, or softball, or cheer, or dance. (Mostly talking about my female friends, I am too a female) Or they have something that makes them special. They can sing, or draw, or play an instrument. And I can't do any of that. I feel like the only person on earth who can do nothing. I always think of 'Oh maybe there is something for me, and I haven't found it yet.' But what if there really is nothing? How will I get into high school, or college? If I don't play a sports or do something in my school because there is nothing for me. I feel I disappoint my family. Like everyone is better then me.

  • Too many people make the mistake of thinking that because they perceive no talent, they have no talent. The appearance of something is not the actuality of it.

I understand how you feel but give it time and be patient. You'll find it. It is there.

My dad forced me to take guitar lessons, now all I do is play guitar. Just be open to trying new things

you might just be lazy and never bother to fallow things through. I think you probablly focus on what other people are doing and want to do those things as good as they do not realizing you are probably good on other things you just are not focusing on. stop being negative and letting other peoples accomplishments stop you from finding your own

I'll guarantee there is something you're either already good at (or could be very good at, with practice). You just don't know what it is yet. The best way to find out is to try everything you can.

For instance, at the recent Olympics, one of the swimmers who won a gold medal had previously won a gold medal for cycling. After an accident, she took up swimming as a low-contact form of exercise to get back to fitness (because she couldn't yet cycle) and ended up winning gold for a sport she only considered out of circumstance.

I like rally driving. I am naturally quite good at it (not good enough to go pro) but hours of honing my skills are improving my ability bit by bit.

I'm getting pretty good at repairing and fabricating performance parts too because I never really could afford to buy things the way I want them. I enjoy it now but I didn't really at first.

Is there anything you like doing?

Wow, thanks do much. I'll take that advice, I think it's good. Mine me asking if you have something you like doing or are good at?

The secret is to find something you enjoy doing. You don't have to be good at it at first, but with passion and practice you could even become great.

BTW I thought this was a good story, not great but definitely good.

  • Most people aren't really good at anything.
