Is it normal that i don't get excited anymore from the stuff i loved

In the past months I have noticed that I don't get excited anymore from the stuff that I loved to do. If I try to do those stuff, I don't get motivated enough and get bored easily. As for new stuff, I don't find anything interesting anymore. All the things that interested me/made me curious,I would research on them and gain all the knowledge and try them practically and that's it. Then I would move on to new stuff and now there's no new stuff left to explore. I try to find a new hobby, but most of them which look interesting to me are the ones that I have tried already. I don't know if I will even be able to find my passion, if it goes on like this. :( Learning never stops and I don't want to stop learning things.
BTW, I'm just 18.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Anthropology and archaeology are interesting. They combine elements of so many other subjects like science, psychology, history, geology, maths, art, religion, architecture, I could go on. Definitely the most fascinating things I've ever studied.
Anyway my point is, studying such broad subjects can help you find things that you're really interested in. Don't rush finding your passion!

As a techie for me the broad subject was computers. I learnt various things related to it like programming, repairing, web designing, assembling, mining, etc. Once I was able to understand the concept, I would try it practically and move on. But, I will try to find more broad subjects which will lighten up my curiosity and excite me. Thanks!

You go girl. Ikr that excitement when a new game comes up. Like recently god of war 4 released and I was super excited after months, as I was waiting for it since the e3 footage was released.

  • Seems like the world is grey for you right now. But the truth is, you’re probably looking at life a little too closely.
Humans are inclined to do things that will make them happy or feel better. But passions are evolved when you want to leave something behind.
Maybe you should backpack europe? Volunteer at an animal shelter or orphanage? Try to be a part of something bigger than yourself. Then you’ll never have to worry about outgrowing it.

But it’s normal to feel like there is nothing new under the sun.

'Passions are evolved when you want to leave something behind.' Does that means, me being not motivated about something is because I'm not really passionate about it and just need to move forward?
Hmm, backpacking and volunteering seems like a nice choice. I was also thinking about spending some alone time and explore world, different cultures and new things. Now seems like a good time. Thanks for your thoughts on this!

      • Or you may just need to step back from the normal everyday stuff.
Hey, I’m glad I could help! Best of luck.

I understand you mate. Being an hardcore gamer, I wanted to take it to next level by becoming a game designer. But, now don't find myself motivated enough to achieve that goal. Currently, I'm trying to make a career in esports and I'm practising real hard. But, the same thing is happening, I'm not finding myself motivated and excited like it did before. But, this time I won't give up that easily. Thanks for your thoughts on this and best of luck for your journey also.
