Is it normal that i don't consider 18 to be an "adult"?

People say how 18 means you're an adult but I believe otherwise:
1) The human mind doesn't stop developing until mid 20s
2) People this age are more commonly still immature than completely as a true adult would be
3) This one's obvious but it has "Teen" in it.
4) People this age still tend to be dependent on their folks

For me, one's not an adult until the age of 20. But that's just me.

Hmm. Then one thing I would say is that in that case, why draw the line at 20 either? If the label of "adulthood" should be reserved for people with total biological, behavioural and social maturity, 20-year-old people aren't a lot better placed than 18-year-old people.

I think if we must draw a hard line between childhood and adulthood then 18 is as good an age as any to do it. However, I don't think it's necessary to make a big deal of the difference between childhood and adulthood, and we need to stop distinguishing "adult" and "childish" behaviours. I'm not a fan of labels which serve to dictate what roles people should have. Refusing to recognise a person's right to call themselves an "adult" because they don't conform to traditional "adult behaviour" just isn't very helpful.

I'm 18. I am a legal adult. I am not a mental, emotional or physical one completely yet, and I don't believe most of the people my age are.
