Is it normal that i don't care?

Someone from work died over the weekend, she chocked. I didn't know them that well, i didn't really like them much either.

Yeah, well, the truth is that i don't care. I'm not sad that she died, and deep down, i think maybe she kind of deserved it. Wow, i must sound terrible!

is it normal not to give a shit when someone dies?

    It's normal to not care.

It's not normal to think she deserved it.

I dont understand how one could think something like that. She could of had children or pets. Try not to be so inconsiderate.

Even if I felt someone deserved death, I would still feel bad. It's sad when someone dies entrenched by the negative feelings of their bad deeds... If only they knew what was to come, so they could have given something positive back to the world before their exodus.

You're right. You do sound terrible. It's understandable to not wail and cry because this person is gone, but the "she maybe kind of deserved it" part is over the top. Even if she wasn't the best person, she was someone's wife, girlfriend, daughter, mother or friend. Some people are surely feeling terrible loss without her in their lives, and that's usually reason enough for most people to feel some sorrow at another person's passing.

Yes, people do die every day, but someone you know personally doesn't. For most people, I think, a death close to them is a reminder of their own mortality, of their parents', of their friends'. If you don't feel that interconnectedness with others, maybe it's a good thing; you don't have to feel grief or anxiety at another person's death. On the other hand, you might also be missing out on feeling happy for other people's victories and celebrations, so it might be worth working on that. Up to you.

People act out alot of emotion when someone in there surroundings dies, because they feel like they have to. The reality is that a shitton of people die every day, the news is all about it. Wars, disease, starvation, etc etc. If you don't feel connected to the person in question there is nothing abnormal about not giving a shit.
