Is it normal that i do not believe that we need police?

I only ask this question because I am not joined by many on this thought. People always say we need cops and that one day when I need help, I will be calling for the cops. Am I wrong for believing that we need cops only because the government/officials/police make it illegal to defend ourselves? Without this ability to defend ourselves, we are left vulnerable. It technically isn't illegal to defend yourself but if you've been to jail, whether petty or serious, once out, you should be allowed to defend yourself. Even if you have never had an legal issues, they want you to jump through flames to attain a licensed weapon.

I'll put this in perspective for you. The only reason some person larger, meaner and more willing to kill you for whatever reason doesn't do exactly that, is because there are laws and police to deter him.
If you have never killed another human being, it is likely you will hesitate just long enough to become a victim, even if it is justified self defense.
There are many you encounter every single day that would just as soon kill you for some imagined slight, as they would step on a bug. Only the laws and police make it a choice for them whether it's worth it, thankfully, for you.

I think within weeks of the police being disbanded, a new police force would form, consisting of brave and concerned citizens.

They would probably follow the same conduct our police follow today. It's natural to have protectors who look out for the good of the herd so to speak. I don't see that order going away for long. It's in our nature.

    • That is one of my reason I failed to point out. We will naturally police ourselves so there isn't a need for police who have more "rights" than we do. I never stated anything about not having laws because we do need those, also.

    • Oh, the closed-mindedness. We will naturally police ourselves equally with the community instead of only some people with more "rights" than us having the ability to take advantage of a "job."

Police do quite a few other things besides shooting people, dumbass.

To get an idea of what life would be like in a country without a strong government police force just look at what is happening in the middle east where evil monstrous thugs have invented their own arbitrary laws and kill anyone for the slightest transgression of those laws.

the thing is, it's usually alot harder to defend yourself. Policemen and women usually undergo alot of training and experience. But even then, they're not completely safe either as alot of cops are killed in the line of duty.

While many are scum that deserve to die, some work hard defending the innocent.

I really want to know your reasoning behind this accusation.

i dont know where the op lives but laws vary state to state

yall gots newyorks where nobody can own any guns and must jump out yalls back window to avoid confrontin an intruder in yalls home

yall gots texases where guns is available to all (but felons and certified loons asper federal law) yall can legally shoot anyone on yalls property after dark

    i prefers the latter

  • I get what you are saying, and I agree that we should be able to protect ourselves, but they are much more extreme cases when we can't do it alone. Think about what happened in the Kenya mall in 2013.

Plus, we need people to monitor street activity, such as speeding, drunk driving, and other illegal activities that other people can't do so on a regular basis.

I do believe that we need a police force.
