Most people don't listen to actual rap music, most of the stuff you hear on a regular basis is just pop music with rap undertones.
Rap is a decent genre, not really my favorite, but I can dig a lot of it.
"Flyer than a kite I get higher than Rapunzel
Keep the snow white I could buy it by the bundle"
:Þ
Of course it's normal!
You like what you like, you can't help it, you just do - many people don't like Hip Hop, many people don't like steak, many people don't like the smell of stilton etc. etc.
Stop being concerned by silly things like this and you'll be much happier.
I used to. I could never understand what they were saying!
I listen to some of it now. I don't like the auto-tuned shit. I'm not too found of modern artists, I prefer 80's and 90's rap.
It's normal. Everyone has different tastes:)
Since everyone's making one I'll make one to, it's called "lame man discriminator"
-----------------------------
you a lame man discriminator,
intolerant terminator,
Hitler impersonator
taggin' peoples by their skins,
eyes shape, and even jeans,
since the days we were teens,
judged to the umpteenth,
but we say,
man it don't matter,
other mans is madder,
soon he'll climb the ladder,
get to another level,
like a player in a game,
he will never be the same,
old him was lame,
chorus x3
say it with me,
discriminators,
... (pause)
like damn terminators
... (robot riff or electric guitar riff)
----------------------------
And that is why i don't have a record deal ;)
OP: yeah it's normal not to like rap music, just as it is not to like other types. besides a lot of it these days lacks content, other than the usual telling a girl to shake <insert variations of ass here>.
Now i say a lot of it but there are some artists you should definitely listen to before you make up your mind.
I like quite alot of rap, along with completely different genres of music.
A few of my favorites are:

There's a whole lot more, although those were the few at the top of my head.
Nice. I'm a Biggie guy myself, but you can't help but respect Tupac.
A lot of people hate hip-hop because they've only heard what plays the loudest. But there are some real visionaries, poets, and geniuses out there that don't get much limelight, and of course there are the classics. And if you've heard all that and you still don't like it, then of course that's fine. I just wince when people say they hate hip-hop based on the top radio hits.
Agreed. Rap today isn't what it used to be from what I could gather. Alot of rap that was made by earlier rappers made rap music from the soul. I think alot of people don't understand that rap has changed quite a bit from the past.
I like a few rap songs from the present, although I don't think they hold much to anything over songs from Biggie and Tupac.
I'm with you, I like pretty well all genres. There is something valuable in each of them..... and when they collaborate effectively.... its usually awesome.
I cant stand rap! "mmmm smoke pot mmm mm yeah mmm bang this bitch mmmm mm pop a cap in yo ass mm mm mmm look how fly I am mmm mm yeah mmm"
that's stupid, not all rap is like that, it's just the "pop," "mainstream" hip-hop. if you were to listen to real rappers like brother ali, mos def, talib kweli, a tribe called quest, among plenty of others, you'd learn that the "smoke pot, bang this bitch, pop a cap in yo ass, look how fly i am" rappers make up a small percentage
I used to love rap, but, its just not the same anymore, all these posh wannabes coming onto the scene think their all gangsta and the best *cough* Drake *cough* I used to rap myself, but the genre is so dead now in my opinion, I moved onto Metal and Dubstep after hip hop crashed and burned
I Dont blame the op for not liking rap or hip hop... not everyone can like everything... i myself am a huge hip hop head and jazz guy, but im impartial to club music, radio 'hip hop' and heavy metal. go figure. if u can't go figure, then go fuck urself haha
Of course it's normal, everybody has their own tastes in everything, as you'll be told about 543792 times during your life, we're all born different, and everybody has their own preferential, I'm a fan of hip-hop, not so much rap, but I can understand if somebody didn't enjoy it. :)
Some rap I don't even consider music. Just talking over a never changing looped beat. Notice I say SOME.
