Is it normal that i'd let my friend kill himself?

He recently lost someone very near and dear to him and threatened to commit suicide. I wouldn't just sit by and watch him take his own life but he was in a lot of pain. I felt selfish to keep him suffering and alive for my sake; so that I'm not the one hurting. I promised I'd make him happy again but that I wouldn't try to stop him if that's what he really wanted. I promised to follow him if he went too, knowing he would reconsider. Everything seems well now but I can't help but ask myself every now and again, is it normal?

      If it really came down to it, I probably wouldn't have the balls to do it. I just said it in hopes he would rethink taking his life if he knew it would cause the death of another.

    Usually when people concider suicide and don't do it they are later glad they didn't

    I had a good friend who did this years ago and I think he would be glad if he were still here by now.
