Is it normal that i cry every time i think of my child growing up

I had my son when I was 19, he is going into 5th grade and every time I think about it I burst into tears. I realize he isn't moving out or anything but I get so sad every time I think about how old he is already.

At a certain age you'll cry at the thought of them moving back.

I really can't relate to you as I will never go through the same thing as you. I'm sure most mothers who care about their offsprings feel this way at some point or another. My mother used to say how amazing it was for me to grow and what not. She is yet to cry about it as far as I know. This is something you'll have to deal with as a parent. All children grow, it's part of the life cycle. We are born. We live. We die and So on.

I bet she has cried about it in private. Some woman just don't like to show their emotions. I know the cycle of life just because I'm emotional about my son growing up doesn't mean I'm not fully aware how life will proceed

Aww! I'd say it's completely normal. My baby just turned 1 in May. I had him when I was 18. I cried when his dad took him out for the day without me for the first time, I cried when he learned to sit up on his own, when he started crawling, when he started walking, when his first tooth appeared, and at the thought of him going to school in the future. He's my baby. I can't help it.
