Is it normal that i cried because my cat killed a bird?

I noticed this morning that my cat caught a tiny bird. It was laying on the ground with blood on its back and it was shaking a lot. My cat kept playing with it, just hitting it over and over again and it would just go back and sit in a fetus-like position, shaking. I wasn't sure of what to do, but I decided that I would kill it so it wouldn't suffer anymore like that. It wouldn't survive in the wild with the scars it had, it was badly wounded. I took a knife, I turned the bird around so I could see its throat and I cut its throat. I could see it gasping for air and just staring back at me. I felt so horrible that after I disposed it, I went to my room and cried a lot. I'm an 18 year old male, is this normal? I felt so bad when it looked me in the eye, gasping for air. I can't get over it and my own throat hurts now because of it.

That's brave of you to kill the bird.

Survival of the fittest my friend. I shall have a moment of silence for my fallen avian friend, however these things do happen.

I feel like crying when I imagined this event while reading this post. RIP, Mr/Ms/Baby bird.

Remember that what you did was best for the bird after the damage was done.

It's normal. There was an injured infant possum in my yard that my cats had bitten. Most things die after being bitten by a cat, so I gave him a quick end with a hammer. I felt pretty bad about it but I saved him from lying there in the sun, suffering a slow death.

Is it normal that my cat found an injured desert finch in the backyard, I saw him stalking towards it and when I said NO he actually listened? He's not allowed outside unsupervised by me... mwahahaha! Seriously, I treat him like a smart little dog and he's cool with it.

Cats are carnivores born with a natural instinct to kill because they are hunters. It's completely natural and nothing to be sad over. Just look away if things like that bother you.

    Man the fuck up.

Maybe you should keep your cat inside or put several bells around its collar so it doesn't kill any more birds
